Cardwell tilt train crash.

Some images of the fatal level-crossing smash in
Northern Queensland.

Not a good scene.

Obviously from the photos and tragically, the two drivers of the Tilt Train were killed.

Sadly, another truck driver thinking STOP signs and crossing lights are not for him to obey.

These next photos are from Fridays 844 derailment site just east of Craigieburn.

It is in the Southern Alps of
New Zealand,
on the Trans-Alpine line.

I personally think the highlight has got to be the upsidedown Cb... impressive!

I reckon that, with some of the images which I've seen lately, I would be inclined to be at least a hundred yards away from the tracks, especially if the train in question is travelling at any sort of speed.

Don't know how it happened, but probably a broken axle or bearing failure. Looks like on a straight.

Re: The New Zealand Rail images that I just sent to you: I think that the photographer's name is probably David Overson, but you may wish to put a question mark alongside his name.
